Hand-Turned Wooden Snowman with Hazel Arms and Natural Knot

€28.00

A hand-turned wooden snowman, designed and crafted by Joe in the Boyne Valley, Ireland. The body is turned on the lathe from a single piece of solid timber and shaped to follow its natural grain and character, with a natural knot left as a feature in the lower body. The tall hat is turned separately as one solid form, brim and all, and gives the snowman its distinctive outline.
Description

Joe works with a range of timbers, including yew, pine, hazel and wild cherry. Natural knots, grain and markings are left visible, so each snowman has its own look, and no two are the same.

The arms are twigs from a contorted hazel tree, chosen for their natural twists and strength. They are removable, so the snowman can be packed away safely and brought out again each winter. It makes a natural wooden decoration for the Christmas season and an Irish-made gift.

Each snowman is individually designed and crafted by Joe.
