Bluefaced Leicester Sheep Portrait
A hand needle felted sheep portrait, created inside a large round wooden bowl using naturally curled Bluefaced Leicester locks sourced locally from Cornstown House in County Meath. Each lock is prepared by hand, washed, dried and gently opened before being individually placed and secured with fine felting needles to create a portrait full of texture, depth and quiet character.
Description
The sheep's facial details are sculpted in Corriedale wool, with darker fibres carefully worked into the ears, eyes and nose to give natural definition and expression. Layer by layer, the portrait captures the softness and movement of the fleece while celebrating the beauty of this distinctive breed.
The wooden bowl features a smooth visible grain and a hand-finished rim in iridescent Inferno chameleon pigment, complementing the natural tones of the wool and framing the piece with a subtle contemporary finish.
Mounted with a hook on the reverse for wall display, the depth of the bowl also allows it to stand securely on a shelf or tabletop.
