The Woodsman is an original wood sculpture, designed and hand carved by Joe in the Boyne Valley, Ireland. Carved from a solid piece of lime timber, the figure has been shaped entirely by hand, gradually developing the face, cap, beard and feather detailing directly from the wood.
Description

The deeply carved features give The Woodsman a strong, individual expression. Layered sections of the beard, defined facial lines and the carved cap create depth across the sculpture, while the feather details on either side add further texture and character.

Rather than being produced from a pattern or replicated design, the sculpture has developed through the carving process itself. Individual tool marks and changes in texture remain visible throughout, alongside the natural grain and markings of the lime timber, showing both the hand of the maker and the material from which it was created.

The Woodsman is Joe's own original design and a one-of-a-kind piece. It cannot be reproduced exactly. The expression, individual carving marks and natural characteristics of the timber belong to this particular sculpture.

This is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted artwork intended for display.

Care
To care for your hand-carved wood piece, keep it indoors in a dry environment and away from direct heat, strong sunlight and excessive moisture. Dust gently using a soft, dry cloth or a clean, soft-bristled brush. Avoid water, household cleaning products or abrasive materials, as these may affect the natural timber and its finish. As a natural material, wood can respond to changes in temperature and humidity over time. Small changes are part of the character of a hand-carved piece made from solid timber.

We currently ship to Ireland and Northern Ireland only, using An Post tracked delivery. Shipping is €7.00. European shipping is not currently available.

Every item currently available on our website has already been handmade. Orders are usually dispatched within 3 to 5 working days, and An Post takes a further 3 to 5 working days.

Commissioned pieces are made to order and take longer. We agree a timeline with you before any commission begins.
